Day One – June 18, 2018 - Odessa to Atlanta

Day One – June 18, 2018 - Odessa to Atlanta

Just some quick notes –
I started the day with my right psoas muscle still acting up, so climbing into and out of things like beds and cars is a little challenging.

Roddy and Betsy arrive right on schedule at 7:45, and they were able to get in the gate when the guy behind them clicked his opener.

This beauty showed up in my front yard to say, "Good-bye"!!

We drove as far as Ocala  and had breakfast at Bob Evans.  The three of us split two three-egg omelets, a Denver and a veggie, and a side of bacon; and it’s just enough food for everyone, there’s even banana bread!  And we get coffee (or hot chocolate in Roddy’s case) to go.

There are a couple of stops for gas and potty breaks before we hear from Ginger.  She was supposed to fly in from Mexico City a little after nine;  but there were mechanical problems with the plane and eventually she wound up with a direct flight on Delta, arriving at five forty-five!!  Ben was going to pick her up;  but we’re going right by the airport!

We arrive early enough to scout out the international terminal and then find a shady spot in a Wendy’s parking lot to wait for her to arrive.  We get her text and head to A2 Arrivals and there she is!!  Perfect!

We stop at a Chinese restaurant called Mulan’s for dinner, since everyone is starving!  We order basil chicken, panang curry shrimp, and tangerine beef (YUMMY!) and three orders of fried rice!  Again, the perfect amount!

Home to Ginger’s to find out whether Gaylord is still in residence!  She didn’t know he was coming, or how long he planned to stay!  His car is there and his bedroom door is closed, so he’s probably in there!  We have some wine and blow up the air mattress for Roddy and Betsy.  Ginger and I hot tub, which helps my hip immensely, and when we come back inside, Gaylord is chatting with the Kings!

Ginger asks about his plans for the next day and he talks about getting his car inspected – but no mention of his plans for the night!  Guess we’ll see what the morning brings!  I sleep with Ginger in her lovely, hard bed and my hip loves it!!

  1. We couldn't have planned the pick-up from the airport any better if we had actually planned it! Hope it's a sign of how the whole trip goes!
